Level 1 curriculum
The beginner pathway: babble production and vocabulary emergence, end to end.
Teacher training · Cohort 2027
A comprehensive 12-week program designed to give you the tools, language, and methodology to teach West Coast Swing the BLC way.
The program
Created by Jesse Lopez and Ariel Peck, the champions and working teachers who built the BLC method. The training blends the culture and tradition of West Coast Swing with the frameworks they developed in their own studio.
It's for WCS teachers, community leaders and professional dancers, whether you're seasoned or just starting out. You leave with the how and the why behind effective teaching, and a curriculum you can use from day one.
What's included
Nine modules of curriculum, vocabulary and method. Everything you need to teach the language in your own studio.
The beginner pathway: babble production and vocabulary emergence, end to end.
The intermediate pathway: sentence emergence, and the move from steps to phrases.
The advanced pathway: intermediate fluency and the road into improvisation.
The full glossary, with definitions, drill links and the linguistics behind each term.
The diagram that organizes the whole dance, and how to use it to see what a student needs.
Every drill in the library, sorted by pillar and level, ready to assign as homework.
How patterns descend from patterns: a taxonomy that turns endless vocabulary into a map.
The cultural and practical frameworks behind a local scene that keeps its dancers.
The why beneath the method: the principles the rest of BLC is built on.
The five fundamental truths
The observations the whole curriculum is built on. Once they click, teaching WCS stops feeling like a list of patterns and starts feeling like a language.
